It’s no hoverboard, but there’s a new equally awesome type of skateboard in town.
Officially named the Sidewinding Circular Skates and tagged as the Post Modern Skateboard, this product features a pair of 10-inch wheels with foot platforms and nothing else.
That’s right. A skateboard without the board.
But if there’s no board, why is it still considered a skateboard?
Although the Sidewinding Circular Skates look nothing like a skateboard, it does function like a longboard skateboarding. The rider would be leaning side-to-side to make the wheels rotate, then uses the same motions in propelling a normal skateboards to move the skates.
While using the skates obviously requires practice, you’ll find it more flexible than a normal skateboard like its ability to make tight spins and turns or how it can move even in grassy areas.
Hammacher Schlemmer, the retail company that introduced the Post Modern Skateboard, said that the skates can support riders that weigh up to 200 pounds, while the wheels themselves weigh 5 pounds each. As for the age appropriateness of the product, it can be used by skaters 8 years old and up.
The Sidewinding Circular Skates have a price tag of $99.95 and are expected to be shipped by the end of the month.
While we’re still waiting for the hoverboard, these skates are definitely a must-try.
